Equilibrium
01:38
|
|||
This new band, what are they saying?
Is it for real, are they even trying?
Could I see myself buying into the hype?
This new band, will they bring it?
Bring the rock, or at least try to wing it?
Or will they try to keep that deadpan pose through the night?
I miss the old days, no pain no gain
Working hard, working in vain
The tunnel was bright without the light at the end
Not a single star, just equilibrium
Getting old, set in my ways
Counting years instead of days
But my hatred keeps burning from within
I'm raising kids with a burning spirit
All I hope for is that they will feel it
When they hear it
The great and restless din

Radio Daze
02:23
|
|||
When ever I hear what's on the radio these days, I only feel resentment and despair. If this is the shit that people want to hear we sure as hell ain't going anywhere
We put the nuclear launch codes in a crazy guys hands. How did that happen, you might wonder? Well, turn on the radio and listen my friend - it's the sound of the whole world going under
So what's to do now?
Oh I don't know...
Have you lost your faith?
I have lost my hope
So what's to do now?
Oh I don't know
Should I use the bullet?
Or should I use the rope?
They say we get the leaders that we've come to deserve and I might be inclined to agree. But there's no one vile enough to ever deserve
what's playing on rotation this week.
I tried to fight it I threw the radio out, I'm wearing earplugs when I eat. But there's auto-tuned wailings of faux misery coming from every window on my street now.
They're telling a story of a boy or a girl, or clothes or their beverage of choice. Today you can prove that there is no god with a single computer and a voice.
So I've packed my bags and I'm walking out, straight into the wild blue yonder. But in the woods I hear a familiar tune. Jesus! Fuck! That tree has a transponder!

Mouth Boy
02:43
|
|||
Got a mouth on you, got a keyboard too
And holy shit look at all that ad revenue!
Who would have known we’d be so long gone
That you could buy a big house with a short con?
I hear symphonies of entitlement
Coming through the air and into the tenements
Rolling down the mountain
Smoking and pestilent
Nature and nurture conspired to create
Our lord and savior, the troll prophet of hate
Shower us with gold, sir, pull your dick out of your hat!
Light your grin on fire, and jiggle that fat
I would rather go outside
I would rather be alive
Than sitting here reading
Getting cancer in my eyes

Action Potential
02:21
|
|||
Jonathan Richman likes it action packed
I like to play with my ammo stacked
I'm working, working on my action potential
I drink beer and have a late night snack
Funneling through my digestive tract
I'm working, working on my action potential
Electricity in my brain
New pathways every day
Axons have so much to say
Pumping through the white and the gray
My dendrites are doing their thing
Got my serotonin and my dopamine
I'm working, working on my action potential
Glial cells supply the oxygen
Keepin' it hummin' in my brain
I’m working, working on my action potential

COINTELPRO
01:17
|
|||
I know my rights and I know myself
A testament to humans is the presumption of innocence
But Adolf Hitler - he’s still alive
He's shredding solos on your vocal chords tonight
At first I though about COINTELPRO
It would be so much better if this wasn't you
But then I thought - why does it matter?
The scary thing is how we could let you get here
Folks follow blindly out of fear
Repeating things and actions that they see and hear
Well-intentioned, but fucking dumb
Creeping willingly and lovingly under your thumb

Hipster Junk
03:00
|

My new band missed out on the latest trend
We played KBD when goth was in
We'll do post punk when ska is back again
Tell me when this struggle will end
My wardrobe is full with useless clothes
My band T-shirts are not in vouge
We only get to play the unhip shows
Booked by some loser who nobody knows
At night, at night I dream of a social media hype
Just a little blurb that will make everything feel all-right
"They are fresh and exciting and the drummer is so tight"
All of a sudden we are in the spotlight
I will take to the dancefloor like Barton Fink
People will ask me what I think
They'll buy our merch and give me drinks
I will be forgiven if I throw up in your sink
I will get laid and I will get paid
Distros will ask us for more than trades
All my other bands will ride this wave
"Members of Hipster Junk!" fliers say
